Food During the Strike

We know a big concern for parents is the food security of their children. When kids don’t eat, they don’t learn, and they definitely don’t thrive.

There are definitely options during the strike to ensure that your kids have access to the nutritious meals they need and deserve.

  • Meals at school: If you choose to send your kids to school, please note that school feeding programs will be ongoing for the duration of the strike. Aldama students will continue to have access to breakfast and lunch, and LA’s best will continue to provide a hot supper after school.

  • Meals at Recreation Centers: If you choose not to send your children to school, the Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP) has designated 27 recreation centers to be on stand-by status to open during the strike. The recreation centers listed below will be open from 8:00 AM-4:00 pm and will provide a lunch, snack, and activities for school-aged children. You can contact Highland Park Recreation Center at (213) 847-4876 and Lincoln Heights Recreation Center at (323) 225-2838 for more info.

Habrá varias opciones durante la huelga para asegurar que sus hijos tengan acceso a las comidas nutritivas que necesitan y merecen.
